Wooo weee. This one was good. Sudwerk’s Mai Bock is incredibly smooth and flavorful considering that it is a punch packing 7.5% alcohol. I had a nice 22oz bottle while playing some games with friends.
The smells and flavors kinda had these honey & apple like flavors comingling in the light amber malts. Mai Bocks traditionally fall into the middle between light straw colored pilsners and the darkest lagers, the doppelbocks. This was absolutely a prime example of a Mai Bock, and how lagers don’t all have to be light in their practice.
This was easily my favorite beer from Sudwerk I’ve had - but if there is one thing these 19 beers evidence so far is that the darker beers tend to win my heart.
